Looking after a loved one can be very rewarding but also very tiring. Occasionally it is important to have a break, to have some respite from the role of informal carer. However, it can concerning trying to organise a trusted alternative. We know this is a sensitive issue and we understand that this can be a difficult to make, that’s where we can help. It is easy to arrange short term or respite care with one of our Managers who can deal with your request in a compassionate way.
Respite from your caring role can last from a few hours to several months. It can be a one-off event or as part of a series of planned events. It may enable you to return to your caring role feeling relaxed .
Meal and fluid preparation
We have been assessed by the local Environmental Health Officers gaining a 5 star rating.
Our health care workers receive training related to food allergies and food safety. They are also trained in understanding the components of a healthy diet, fortifying food and diet related complications. Cooking is an essential skill for our care staff and we ensure cooking lessons are given to all new employees so that we know they can get the basics right.
Our staff are trained with the knowledge of the interactions between some medications and diet so that any potential problems can be easily identified.

- Meal preparation (Hot food fresh or pre-prepared)
- Snack and sandwich preparation
- Supplement preparation
- Fortifying food during preparation
- Assistance with eating and drinking
- Food checked to ensure it is in date
- Fluids preparation
- Baking
- Menu planning and pictorial menus for clients with a cognitive impairment
- Support writing shopping lists or providing pictorial shopping lists for clients with a cognitive impairment
